Cameron Run Regional Park isn’t like any other park. It’s a true asset to historic Alexandria, Virginia wherein families can have a quick getaway. Yet, the park’s popularity isn’t just limited to its nearby residents. There’s plenty of foot traffic coming from visitors who don’t live in the area.

Thanks to the area’s recreational components like a waterpark, batting cages, picnic area, fishing, and an 18 hole miniature golf.

Who Runs Cameron Run Regional Park

The park which is located on Eisenhower Avenue is under the guidance of the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority. For the uninitiated, you’ll definitely enjoy the Great Waves waterpark. Bring your whole family to enjoy any part or all of the fun. Plan your visit and explore what else you can see and do with all of these attractions.

Cameron Run Regional Park’s Star of the Show

What does Cameron Run Regional Park continually boast to its first-time visitors? It’s star attraction...Great Waves Waterpark. The ocean might be miles away from Alexandria but when the heat rises up, there’s always this huge waterpark to cool you and your family down. It has its own wave pool which generates gentle waves that splash its way to the shallow parts of the pool.

How big is the pool? It’s just 17,500 square feet. The park has several twisting and turning four-story water slides. Are you worried about your young ones? The play pool has shallow waters perfect for relaxing or for the younger members of the family. Your children will also enjoy climbing and sliding the Paradise Play area. They’ll also meet a lot of kids of the same age. Isn't it nice to make new friends?

Tired and hungry from all and running and swimming?

So, you’re basking in the afternoon sun by the pool and out of nowhere, your stomach begins to rumble. Don’t worry. There’s a snack bar nearby and they’re ready to serve pizza, hotdogs, and hamburgers. Have someone photograph you as you lounge in the cool shade of the canopied area with a drink on hand.

Cameron Run Regional Park has batting cages

Are you ready for a challenge? In need of a quick practice session? Do you want to release more of that stress? Then crank up the speed and take on a fast one with the batting cages. It’s a fun way to work on your game or to just spend time with the family. Just a reminder, the batting cages are closed from December to February.

Go fishing!

Cameron Run Regional Park is home to two acres of water named Lake Cook. The lake perhaps which about 15-foot deep is stocked with trout, bass, and bluegill. These fishes can be found all over the lake and you can cast with ease anywhere within the lake’s perimeter. This is a nice fishing hole to start your children as young anglers. You do need to have a fishing license if they’re under 16. By the way, boats are not allowed on the lake.

Cameron Run Regional Park has its own mini-golf

If you’re a golf lover, you might want to share that passion with the rest of your family. Especially if you have young kids, mini golf can be a great option for teaching some of the basics while also having a great time.

What else does Cameron Run Regional Park have to offer?

Stay a little longer. Make your day at the park by renting a picnic shelter or a pavilion. Cameron Regional Park also caters to large parties like birthdays and anniversaries. It’s so easier now as they have their own food provisions for your social event.

Now that’s a wrap. We hope this helps with your family’s exploration of Cameron Run Regional Park.
